Google Docs

I really like Google Docs. I think it would be a fantastic tool to use in my workplace. We deal a lot with flyers and handouts regarding activities we hold for the kids. The amound of e-mails back and forth with us to promotions and from promotians to the print room at Council. It is just crazy. If we could impliment this fantastic tool, I think it would save a lot of headaches. I love it.

MASHUPS PART 2

What can I say....It has only taken me 3 days to create this image and upload it to my Blog.

MASHUPS

So on my second day of trying to create a Mashup thingy, I actually succeeded....only problem is that I can't seem to upload it to my blog. Maybe day 3 will bring me more luck.

POD CASTS

I like the idea of podcasts although I don't really use them much. I don't see how it would be of use to our library. It may work when we have author visits and perhaps it could be useful for those interested in local history. Other than that I don't think we would use it. It is hard enough for our IT people to keep up to date with our webpage. I doubt that we would have any luck at getting any of this new technology up and running at our Library. Even though we are supposed to be the biggest Public Library in NSW. (so I have heard)

YAHOO7 ANSWERS

I went into yahoo7 answers and I thought, I won't be able to help many people. But I got on a role and answered several questions. They may not have been in depth questions needing in depth answers but they needed help and I was able to give it. I like it...kinda makes me feel smarter than the average bear.

SLAMMING THE BOARDS

Consider is there a role for your library in “slamming the boards”?

I think that this is a fantastic idea and the every Library should be a part of it. We have so many phone calls from people that just have a general question that they want answered then and there. Often we have to take their question on board and get back to them later. But with a site like this, then there maybe a Librarian online who can answer that question straight away. It is a huge pool of knowledge that the public can dive into. I think it would even be helpful for me to dig around in there to help our patrons.

LIBRARYTHING

For someone who work in a Library, I don't really read all that much. So I am sorry if my booklist is a little Blah. I really like it. It's good to read comments made by real people about what they think of a book. I think it is great. Would I use it? I'm not sure. As I said, I don't really read much. But maybe this could be a good thing for me to use. My main problem is that I don't know what to read. I don't have a favorite Genre or Author. So I just don't read at all.

TECHNORATI

Ok so I went to Technorati and I din't find anything different when I typed in Bookmobile. Although if I had have taken it further in the advanced page I could have narrowed the search down a bit. I will go back and have a play. It's just hard to fit all this in at work. I tried the search for nswpln2008 and I didn't get any results at all. Again I will have to go back to the advanced page and play around again. I created an account and I have bookmarked a few blogs.

OH MY GOD I DID IT

DEL.ICIO.US

Can you see the potential of this tool for research assistance?

Absolutley. I think this is a really really cool idea. I love the fact that you can access your bookmarks no matter what computer you are on. I have often found that a problem. I would go home and want to look up this cool website I have bookmarked at work but....I can't seem to remember the exact web address. So I then have to go and google it to try and find it. But with Del.icio.us that will never be a problem again.

I can see it as a great tool for our Reference and Infomation Sections to use. I am glad to have learned about this. I can see myself setting one up to use at work.

WICKED WIKI'S

Ok so I looked around a little more an I am now more impressed by WIIK'S. There are some really cool one's out there. I went to WIKIPEDIA (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) and looked up my local area. I found out a few interesting things that I never knew. A few famous celebraties actually grew up right here where I now live. Amazing. I went to the Library 2.0 page and edited the Children's Services page. I acutually stole someone elses lock. I don't know what that means but I did it anyway.

Ok so what's next. BRING IT ON.

WIKI'S

Well I am not sure what to think about WIKI'S. I think how it is great how they show it being used in the UTube video. I can't see myself setting up a WIKI for myself though. I think WIKIPEDIA is fantastic and I do use it a lot at work.I found the one's I looked at to be interesting and I can see how that works for them. I think I may have to spend more time on exploring them to make a final judgement on how my library would benefit from having a WIKI.

I just want to give him a bath and something to eat then hold him in my arms until he falls asleep. I am just mezmerized by his beautiful eyes. You can see so much in them.

RSS FEEDS

What do you like about RSS and newsreaders?

I love the fact that you don't waste time trying to find out info. It just comes straight to you. In a world where everyone is in a hurry and doesn't have time to waste, this is a fantasic way of getting what you want, when you want it.

What sites did you select for your RSS reader?

I created an accoung with Bloglines and I subscribed to the following sites.
Librarians' Internet Index
LibraryBytes
Powerhouse Museum - Photo of the day
The Shifted Librarian

How do you think you might be able to use this technology in your work?

I don't really know how I would personally use it in relation to my section. But I could see it being usefull in other areas of the Library.

Did you find any good examples of other library blogs?

I found it very interesting to see other Library Blogs. We don't have one yet, but it is something I am hoping that we will do after we have all been through this journey of Learning 2.0

MY LIBRARY

I set up a Flicker account and uploaded this photo with the tag nswpln2008. But for some reason it isnt' showing up when you search for it. I have made it public and everything. I will continue to play around with it at home with my personal Blog that I have created. I will not give in.
